This design project for the rehabilitation of the Vila Real Municipal Market streamlines its wayfinding system by introducing a new pictogram set and reclaiming its visual heritage from archival metal lettering. For the upper floor windows, a custom decorative panel highlights the market’s connection to the surrounding natural landscape. Ultimately, the project introduces minimalist elements that do not compete with the market’s inherent visual environment, allowing its true identity to emerge from the local colors, light, smells, and sounds.
